Parenting, Pot, and Pop Culture
High, I’m Chad Dean and over the past nine years I’ve been a stay-at-home dad, full-time homeschool teacher, and cannabis enthusiast. For the past 3 years, I’ve been the go-to person in my family and high school graduating class for folks who secretly love weed and need their weed questions answered discreetly. Some days I’m not sure which distinction I’m most proud of.
I like obscure museums exhibits curated by pop culture icons. My wife and I watch serialized television dramas and talk about them for a few minutes before we go to bed. I enjoy hip hop and indie rock, and I’m just old enough to remember when indie rock was called alternative.
Yes we cannabis
I love cannabis, and I know it can change the world. I believe that cannabis is the safest, most effective form of medicine on the planet and, that by challenging long held, inaccurate beliefs, we can start to make right centuries of injustice.
I’ve sat in rooms with people who had nothing in common but the bud we just bought, and I learned about them while we shared. An eternal optimist, I believe that cannabis can bring us together, can provide a safe space to discuss important ideas and come to terms with our different perspectives.
Asking the new questions
I believe that cannabis can make you a better parent, and I think it’s time we start asking ourselves some new questions. Is it okay to have alcohol in front of our kids? Then why not cannabis? Do we talk to our children about the prescription drugs we keep in our medicine cabinet? How much do the drugs we prescribe for behavior issues in children “alter” their minds?
Splimm can help
I want Splimm to be the place where we can ask these questions, openly, and not feel judged for wondering. The place you go when you love being a parent and you want to celebrate. And, on the days you don’t love being a parent? It’s where you go when you need someone to hold your hand, light your bowl, and tell you it’s all going to be okay. Because some days being a parent is the worst. But cannabis can always help.
My name is Chad Dean and I love cannabis. I love my family, and I love working hard for the things I believe in. This is Splimm. We made it together. We made it for everyone.
