The sound of beating hearts has pulled me from my slumber,
a once sweet slumber now bitter and encumbered
by the rhetoric of the right, a growing parasite,
who use the spotlight to incite gunfights.
The beating of my heart is the anxiety and the fear
that the champions of this dogma are actually sincere.
Sincere to restrict our rights; sincere to make us drown.
But they forgot one thing: the heart of Beantown.
The sound of beating hearts is now the sound of marching feet
and our fear takes a back seat as we march on the streets
WE SHOUT #blacklivesmatter
WE SHOUT #yestorefugees
WE SHOUT #pussypower
WE SHOUT #fuckwhitesupremacy
WE SHOUT “Climate Change is Real”
WE SHOUT “Education Can Heal”
WE SHOUT “Science is Real” and
WE STAND with our queer peers.
A new era has dawned and our civic engagement
will create a new normal from our political enragement.
We are SICK of the hypocrisy taking over our democracy.
To be complacent is counterfeit and we will not be hypocrites.
