“I don’t know…the torch just makes it seem…a little too much like doing hard drugs…”
“Toss the torch”
The Splimm Team has heard this response a lot as concentrated cannabis products become more prevalent. And while we can say without a doubt that trying hash oil won’t immediately turn the user into a hard core drug fiend, we get that a torch is kind of scary. They can look like weapons and they shoot out hot blue flame. Parents who have found that concentrates provide a cleaner form of medicine can have an especially tricky time navigating a torch system with little ones around.
Which is what makes The Dipper, by Dipstick Vapes, a welcome tool for anyone looking to “toss the torch.”
The Dipper not only eliminates the need for a torch, it also removes the need to handle the sometimes sticky, sometimes viscous material. Unlike traditional oil “pens,” which require loading a chamber and often leak, the Dipper uses a ceramic tip atomizer that heats up instantly, meaning that all the user has to do is press a button and inhale with the tip touching the oil.
(Though be warned: whatever oil is being consumed needs to be placed on a high-heat resistant surface like a glass or silicone dish because the tip will burn through wax paper.)
Clean and easy
Without a chamber to load (and leak) The Dipper’s exterior will stay clean no matter how often it’s used. With regular cleaning and maintenance, it has proven to be one of the more reliable units we’ve tried. It does need to be cleaned on a weekly basis, but Dipstick provides most of the tools needed, and the total cleaning process should take less than five minutes.
From a distance, The Dipper looks like one of those voice recorders they use in old sci-fi movies. It’s about as big as a novelty cigar and fairly lightweight. It might be a little too oversized for pants pockets but should fit nicely into any bag. Along with black and silver, The Dipper also comes in a rose gold finish, if you’re that kind of classy.
If you’re a medical patient who’s found that cannabis oil is your preferred method of treatment, consuming on the go can be a constant hassle. It’s impossible to carry around all the tools you’d have at home. With The Dipper it’s fairly easy to keep your medicine handy, and it should hold a charge long enough to get you through a full day. For those who prefer the traditional methods of vaporizing, a quartz crystal atomizer is included, and works as well as any coil atomizer we’ve tried.
Just the right amount of heat
You can choose from three different temperature settings: blue for low, green for medium, and red for hot. It’s not listed in the instruction booklet, but a customer service representative who we called said that the temperature ranges from 450-600 degrees. Consumers can be sure that nothing is getting heated to the point of being carcinogenic.
Concentrated cannabis oil can be a scary thing for newcomers. Even some of the medical patients we’ve met, who have been smoking traditional flower for years, are apprehensive about switching to something so messy and complicated. Fortunately The Dipper takes away some of that confusion and a whole lot of the mess too.
