It’s nice to know that we like the same things as the other cool people out there. Our newest favorite is green smoothies for breakfast. They’re healthy, easy to digest, taste great, and look weird so your kids won’t bother you for them. Plus, by adding another of our favorite crazes, legal cannabis, we get the added benefits of weed for breakfast! Even though legalized cannabis might be the hot new shit and lots of people are just now realizing it’s a thing, we’ve had plant medicine, specifically cannabis, for a long time. If you’ve found that cannabis has medical benefits, this is a great way to eat weed for cheap. Especially if you live in a state like Maryland, where you can’t really buy edibles, or a state like Oregon, where cannabis flower is incredibly affordable. This doesn’t have to be a “get you super high” kind of morning smoothie (though there’s nothing wrong with that if that’s how you like to be a functioning adult). You can infuse your almond butter with a high CBD / low THC strain or go for a 1:1 ratio for a balanced breakfast! Below is our recipe for a protein packed, pre- or post-workout drink. If you really want to up the protein content add a few scoops of your favorite plant-based powder, like pea or hemp protein. Cannabis Breakfast Smoothie Recipe ½ avocado ½ cup kale 1 cup frozen strawberries 1 tbsp infused almond butter 2 tbsp chia seeds 8 oz pineapple juice water (optional) Chia seeds will expand in liquid, so it’s a good idea to let them soak in the juice for 10 minutes first. Combine it all in a blender. If the mixture is too thick for your liking add a little water, or a little extra juice. But be careful with the juice. Sugar is a dangerous drug!
